Charity Charge is growing fast; sometimes it is hard to keep up so we want to send out a little recap of the last month for everyone following along!

Charity Chats

We recently rolled out two new episodes of Charity Chats featuring the Central Texas Food Bank, the Thinkery & GENaustin with many more on the way, check out our YouTube channel to learn more about these amazing nonprofits in the heart of Texas! In the fourth episode of Charity Chats we visited the Central Texas Food Bank, a nonprofit that relies on an enthusiastic team of staff and volunteers to feed the hungry. During the episode you can check out their huge (new) facility and learn more about how the take $1 and turn it into up to EIGHT MEALS for families and individuals in the Central Texas area. In the fifth episode of Charity Chats we visited the Thinkery, an interactive children’s museum right here in Austin. The Thinkery sparks the curiosity of their patrons both young and old, showing kids how much fun science can truly be and influencing them to be the problem solvers of the future!  We visited GENaustin to film our sixth episode and were blown away by their work, supporting and guiding girls as they navigate the unique pressures of girlhood. This summer, Charity Charge visited GEN’s summer day camp, campGEN, where girls in grade 4-8 participated in fun, interactive workshops that emphasized confidence and companionship.

Volunteering

Every month the Charity Charge crew takes a little time out of the office to get our hands dirty and help out at a local nonprofit. This month, inspired by our Charity Chats episode, we stuck around the Central Texas Food Bank and spent a fulfilling morning, joined by our friends Maggie and Caitlin from Encast, sorting and packaging food for those in need. Together we helped provide 4,475 meals for individuals and families in the Central Texas area!

Next month’s volunteer trip will be on September 10th with Operation Supply Drop, if you would like to join us email volunteer@charitycharge.com!

Leading The Charge

We come across so many interesting characters and get really excited to learn about people making a positive impact in the world.  We always want to know more about their stories, backgrounds, and interests and share their stories with y’all. We do this in our Leading The Charge series, where amazing people tell their personal stories about how they make a difference in the world. This month we featured our friends Adele Hazan, Elizabeth Davis and Grant Trahant.  Adele discussed her passion for education. Elizabeth explained how she got involved with all of the incredible causes she’ become a part of like Move This World, Robin Hood Foundation & Robin Hood Foundation. And Grant told us how he is particularly passionate about giving clean water and a good education to those who need it the most as “they are the foundations of living a good life.” Stay tuned to our social media channels for more Leading the Charge stories and submit your story here!
