Which Credit Card is Best for my Church?
Churches, like nonprofits, are unique organizations that have unique financial needs. There is no one credit card that is best for every single church. In this article, we have laid out a variety of different credit card options so that you can choose the one that is the best for your parish.
The Charity Charge Business Credit Card
Although it may seem like a shameless self-promo, the Charity Charge Business Credit Card. While the card may be marketed as nonprofit specific, our credit card offers facets that are also beneficial to churches and religious centers of any denomination. For example, with the Charity Charge Business Credit Card each time you use the card you can donate 1% cashback to the charity of your choice.
This is perfect for all of your church’s philanthropic activities because Charity Charge will also cover all donation processing fees. Additionally, you will receive an annual itemized receipt with all of your tax-deductible donations.
One of the most unique parts of this credit card is that it is backed by Mastercard’s Zero Liability and ID Theft Protection. This way, our cardholders have peace of mind knowing that the financial institution that issued your Mastercard won’t hold you responsible for unauthorized transactions.
Our credit card offers many more amazing benefits such as no annual fee and unlimited employee cards. If you want to hear why so many professionals have chosen our card, you can read about it here!
VisaBusiness Rewards: Christian Community Credit Union
Just like how we at Charity Charge make credit cards specifically for nonprofits, there are also credit card unions dedicated to the specific needs of churches. In this case, the Christian Community Credit Union offers a credit card targeted toward Chirstian Churches.
By partnering with VisaBusiness Rewards, Christian Community Credit Union offers unique rewards and benefits. There is no annual fee on this card and they have their own CURewards program. With every one $1 spent on your credit card you earn one point.
These points can be redeemed for cashback, airfare tickets, hotel stays, and other high quality merchandise. The most unique thing about the Christain Community Credit Union is that with every credit card purchase Christain Community Credit Union will donate a percentage to a Christian mission.
These include international missions, regional ministries, college/ seminary scholarships, disaster relief, new church planting, and other projects. If you are a Christain church looking for a convenient way to contribute to Chritsain missions this may be the card for you.
Visa Ministry Rewards Credit Card: America’s Christian Credit Union
Just like the credit card above, the Visa Ministry Rewards Credit Card by America’s Christain Credit Union is a credit card designed specifically for Christian Ministries. This credit card offers many rewards that can greatly benefit your church. With this card, your church earns 5 points per every dollar spent toward charitable giving.
You can earn 3 points on every dollar spent on qualifying hotels and travel expenses. Finally, you earn 1.5 points per dollar on everyday purchases. The Visa Ministry Reward Credit Card also comes with various features that are great for churches. With this card, your church will get transaction alerts and no annual fee.
Additionally, the Visa Ministry Rewards Card also offers an introductory promotion. Through their introductory promotion, your church can earn up to 62,500 bonus points. Your church will earn 60,000 bonus points when you spend $3,500 in the first three months. Additionally, your church will earn 2,500 points on your first card purchase.
We would recommend this card to Christian churches that contribute a lot of money to charitable giving and plan on paying for travel expenses with your card. This way your ministry can get the most out of the card’s rewards program.
Capital One Spark Cash for Business
The Capital One Spark Cash for Business is a credit card option that is great for churches that are looking for high cashback rates. The Capital One Spark card offers a $500 cashback bonus if your church is able to spend $4,500 within the first three months of having your card. Additionally, this card offers 2% cashback on every purchase on every card. They also offer free unlimited employee cards.
We would recommend this card for churches that make frequent large purchases and already have very established finances. These churches would best benefit from the rewards program for the Capital One Spark card. One thing to note is that while this card has no annual fee for the first year, there is a $95 annual fee for each following year. Additionally, your church must have a preexisting credit score in order to qualify for this card. Therefore, this card would be prefect for any church that is looking to upgrade from their beginner credit card.
Chase Ink Preferred Business Card
The Chase Ink Preferred Business Card is a great card choice for churches that frequently travel. Like the Capital One card above, we would recommend this card to a more established church due to the fact you must have a preexisting credit card in order to qualify. With this card your church can get 100k bonus points if your church is able to spend $15,000 within the first three months of recieving the card.
This would add up to $1,250 to be used for travel expenses. You also earn 3 points on every dollar you spend within the first $150,000 spent on travel expenses. Finally, you will earn one point for every $1 spent on general purchases. Unfortunately, this card does have a $95 annual fee, but there are no foreign transaction fees. Based on this rewards system, we would recommend this card to churches that do alot of travel, specifically international travel. For example, if your church participates in frequent international mission trips this may be the card for you!
The cards listed above are just some of the many great credit card options that are available to churches. Each church has its own unique needs that can be met by different credit cards. When looking at what each credit card offers, it is important to look at both the rewards as well as the features that come with each card. It is important to look at the rewards program of each card and compare them to your church’s current expenditures.
